Know Before You Go

• Entrance pass required — No vehicle reservation is needed, but you must have a valid park entrance pass. Purchase online to save time.
• Seasonal road closures — Winter brings restricted vehicle access and limited services. Check road conditions before your visit.
• Stay on boardwalks — Geothermal areas are extremely dangerous. Always stay on designated boardwalks and trails near thermal features.
• Wildlife safety — Keep a safe distance from all wildlife (at least 100 yards from bears and wolves, 25 yards from other animals). Store food properly.
